Your scan belongs to you.
Not to your scanner.
Your 3D CT and your intraoral scan are your health records. Share them with any dentist, any lab, any AI — CT as DICOM, scan as STL.
Get your files from your clinic
Your clinic gets a secure link and uploads your CT and scan straight into your AICBCT vault. No account needed on their side.
Asking for a copy of your own records is your right under HIPAA. Clinics answer within 30 days and may charge only a reasonable, cost-based fee for the copy.
REQUEST FOR A COPY OF MY DENTAL RECORDS
HIPAA right of access · 45 CFR 164.524
I am asking for a copy of the following records, in electronic form:
- 3D CT (CBCT) — as DICOM files (a .zip is fine).
- Intraoral scan — as STL files (upper jaw, lower jaw and bite), or PLY.
- Any treatment plan or report made from these scans.
Please send them by secure link, or upload them to my AICBCT account if I send you a link. If a format I ask for cannot be produced readily, please send the closest electronic format you can and tell me.
Export STL from any scanner
Every intraoral scanner can export STL from the chairside software, even when a lab portal doesn't let a lab download it.
- Open the patient's casein your scanner software on the chairside PC
- Choose Export (or Share → File)sometimes under the case menu or "…"
- Pick STL — upper, lower and bitePLY keeps color; STL works everywhere
- Upload to AICBCTthe case, or send it to any lab with one secure link

Upload & send
Tip: lab portals tied to one scanner brand often show the scan in 3D but don't let the lab download the file. Export from your own software and the case can go anywhere.
